BURGLARY INSURANCE
The insurance of burglary seeks to provide cover to the insured for loss or damage to the subject matter by theft following forcible and violent entry into or exit from the premises. Cover is also provided for damage suffered to the premises owing to the entry or exit.

COMPUTER ALL RISK INSURANCE
The computer All Risks Policy can be used to insure separately, all items of computer equipment and computer attachments, together with the cost of clerical labour used to input data onto the computer system following the occurrence of an insured event under the policy.

The policy will not under any circumstances provide for:

  • any effects, direct or otherwise resulting from the effects of the ‘millennium bug’ or the Y2K data recognition problem, or
  • any consequential losses resulting from the loss of data or the loss of data or the loss of a business opportunity, due to any accident or misfortune to the computer-system.

CONTRACTORS’ ALL RISKS
The Contractors’ All Risks policy covers the obligations imposed on the contractor by the contract conditions. These contract conditions are often laid down in the standard form of building contractors. The general pattern of these contracts is to make the contractor responsible for loss or damage to the works in certain circumstances and to require him to insure that responsibility under a policy satisfactory to the employer.

The cover incepts from the commencement of work or after unloading of the first consignment at the project site, whichever is earlier and terminated on handing over of works to the principal or at the expiry date of the policy, which ever is earlier. Cover is provided not only during the erection of the contract works but also during a subsequent maintenance period, which is chosen by the Insured at the outset of the policy

CONTRACTORS’ PLANT AND EQUIPMENT
The Contractors Plant and Equipment policy provides cover for the machinery and plant equipment specified in the policy schedule that are owned or operated by the insured and are brought onto a contract site to perform a job.

The policy will provide indemnity, if at any time during the period of insurance stated in the Schedule, the Contractors’ insured Pant, Machinery or Equipment suffer any unforeseen or accidental loss or damage (other than those specifically excluded) necessitating repair or replacement. The policy cover applies to the insured Plant and Machinery whether they are at work or at rest or whether undergoing cleaning, overhauling or are in transit by road or whilst on roll-on roll-off ferried on inland water crossings.

ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT (LOW VOLTAGE) INSURANCE
The term Electronic Equipment comprises all electronic systems, which generally have only a moderate power requirement.

Electronic Equipment insurance is essentially an ‘accident insurance’ on an ‘all risks’ basis for electronic equipment. It thus covers damage to items insured against sudden, unforeseen and accidental causes that materially affect the subject matter insured, necessitating repair or replacement.

EMPLOYER’S LIABILITY
This class of insurance provides indemnity to employers in Barbados for their legal liability to pay damages at Common Law (Employer’s liability).

The legal liability to pay damages at Common Law requires that the workman has to prove his/her injury resulted from the negligence of his/her employer.

FIDELITY GUARANTEE INSURANCE
Fidelity Guarantee insurance or Commercial Fidelity insurance protects employers against the loss of moneys and in many cases, also loss of stock as a result of the dishonesty or fraudulent acts of their employees in the course of their employment.

COMMERCIAL FIRE & PERILS
This policy indemnifies the insured against loss of or damage to the property as a result of Fire, Lightning, Malicious damage, Riot, Strike, Impact by Aerial Devices or Road Vehicles, Flood, Hurricane, Windstorm, Cyclone, Earthquake, Tornado.

CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS
This policy seeks to indemnify the insured for any financial loss, which occurs as a result of an interruption of business, consequent upon the happening of a material damage loss for which the insurer has made a payment or accepted liability to pay under the terms of the Fire & Perils policy.

PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY INSURANCE
Professional Indemnity Insurance seeks to cover professional negligence. This form of cover is necessary as the normal Public liability policy excludes cover for professional negligence.

Professional negligence can be defined as a neglect of professional duty of care as to render the professional person committing the act, error or omission of neglect liable in law to a client or some other third party who occasions loss by reason of that neglect.

HOMEOWNERS’ AND RESIDENTIAL FIRE & PERILS
Coverage: Loss of or damage to the property by Fire, Explosion, Lightning, Earthquake, Volcanic Eruption, Flood, Windstorm, Hurricane, Tornado, Riot, Strikes, Labour Political Disturbances and Malicious Persons, Collapse due to subsidence or landslip, Escape of Water, Theft or attempted Theft, Collision by Aircraft or Aerial Devices, Collision by vehicles or anything dropped from them, Breakage or collapse of Radio or Television aerials, Smoke, Falling Trees or branches.
