Your homeowners policy provides insurance coverage for each of these situations and many more because it is a "package" of insurance for (1) your house, furniture and personal belongings, (2) your liability to others and (3) additional living expenses you may incur if your home is severely damaged.

    Additional coverage to the perils via extensions

    • Underground pipes and cables subject to a maximum of $10,000 in the aggregate per policy period
    • Debris Removal and Professional Fees
      • Debris Removal – Up to 5% of the building Sum Insured in the aggregate per policy period.
      • Architects, surveyors, consulting engineers, legal and other professional fees – Up to 10% of the building Sum Insured in the aggregate per policy period.
    • Damage to fixed glass and sanitary fixtures subject to a maximum of $10,000 in the aggregate per policy period.
    • Loss of rent/Cost of Temporary Accommodation – Up to 10% of the building Sum Insured in the aggregate per policy period.
    • Emergency Access – Subject to a maximum of $1500.00 in the aggregate per policy period.
    • Purchaser’s Interest – Sale of Private Residence
    • Replacement of Door Locks and Keys – Up to $1000 in the aggregate per policy period.

    • Mirrors and Glass – We will pay up to 5% of the contents Sum Insured in the aggregate per policy period.
    • Contents temporarily removed to the open - if the cause of the loss is due to one of the perils above - We will pay up to 5% of the contents Sum Insured in the aggregate per policy period.
    • Contents Temporarily Removed – We will pay up to 15% of the sum insured on Contents and Electronic Equipment in the aggregate per policy period.
    • Contents whilst in transit - We will pay up to $5000 on Contents and Electronic Equipment in the aggregate per policy period.
    • Documents – We will pay up to $1000.00 in the aggregate for any one policy period
    • Loss of rent/Cost of Temporary Accommodation – Up to 20% of the Contents and Electronic Equipment Sum Insured in the aggregate per policy period.
    • Emergency Access – Subject to a maximum of $1500.00 in the aggregate per policy period.
    • Replacement of Door Locks and Keys – We will pay up to $1000 in the aggregate per policy period.
    • Credit Card – We will pay up to $1000.00 in the aggregate for any one policy period
    • Visitor’s Personal Effects - We will pay up to $1000.00 in the aggregate for any one policy period
    • Garden Equipment/Furniture - We will pay up to $5000.00 in the aggregate for any one policy period
    • Freezer Contents - We will pay up to $1000.00 in the aggregate for any one policy period
    • Compensation for Death of Insured – We will pay $10,000.00 or 50% of the Sum Insured on Contents and Electronic Equipment, which ever is less.
    • Luggage – We will pay up to $5000.00 in the aggregate for any policy period
    • Articles of a brittle nature – We will pay up to $1,000.00 in the aggregate for any policy period

  • Things you should make note of when placing your insurance - view details
    • Is your property insured for the full replacement of market value cost? If your property is underinsured, then average would apply at the point in time of a claim.
    • What is Average? – If your property is underinsured, then the amount of your claim in the event of a partial loss will be settled in the proportion of the sum insured to the real value at risk. You will not be fully indemnified for your loss.
    • What liability coverage is provided in your homeowner’s policy? Your policy provides liability cover to domestic employees, public liability to third parties and personal liability. Refer to your policy for further details.
    • Do you have a proper inventory of all the items in your home? In order to properly insure your electronic items, all risks and contents, a proper listing of all items must be provided to the insurance company. In the event of a loss, reference will be made to this listing.
    • You must ensure that your Sum Insured includes the cost of Debris Removal and Professional Fees

  • Building(s)
    The Private Residence of the insured including the following:

    • Tennis hard courts, patios, paths, driveways, boundary and garden walls, gates and fences
    • Solar water heating systems
    • Landlord fixtures and fittings
    • Water storage tanks

    The insured must ensure that their sum insured for their property includes the above items.

    Contents
    Household articles, personal effect, Tenants Improvement, tenant’s fixtures, fittings and interior decorations, electronic equipment belonging to you or for which you are legally responsible including:

    • Aerials and their fittings, masts and equipment
    • Items considered valuable and money

    Domestic Employee
    A person employed by you under a contract for service to provide household help including gardening and or yard services but not including nurses, care givers or companion.

    Excess
    The amount shown in the schedule under the captioned excesses which we will not pay when you make a claim under the policy.

    Electronic Equipment
    All items of audio and video equipment, television sets, indoor components of satellite television receiving systems, cable television equipment, radios of every type electronic games, facsimile machines, copiers.
