Many motor policyholders do not know that flood damage is generally an exclusion under their fully comprehensive policies.  Guardian General however, offers our Comprehensive customers the option of buying this coverage at an additional cost, as an Optional Extra Benefit. Included with this Optional Extra Benefit is loss or damage arising from hurricane, windstorm, earthquake, tornado, volcanic eruption or any other convulsion of nature.

Sometimes, in a bid to save on premium, customers may decide to under-insure their property. Others may put an arbitrary value to their house, and pay a premium on that value.

In the event that you are under-insured, and you suffer a loss or damage to your property, average will apply. This means that you will be considered your own insurer for the difference between the sum insured and the actual value of the risk. That is, if you insured your property for 75% of the actual value, and you suffer a loss, the Insurer will only pay 75% of the claim.

It is therefore important to have the value of your property updated at each renewal.

“Motor Assist” is not a benefit under our policies. “Motor Assist” is a corporate service which is provided to all our motor policyholders. The service extends to all insured vehicles except vehicles which are over three (3) tons and certain special type vehicles. Policyholders are restricted to 3 call-outs per calendar year.

The service includes:

  • Towing
  • Emergency Battery Jumpstart
  • Emergency Flat Tyre Assistance
  • Emergency Refuel (at your cost)
  • Emergency Locksmith Service
